I would like to welcome you to Mr. R. Guerra's website.  This is my 15th year working for the Sharyland Independent School District and my 15th  year at Wernecke Elementary.  This will be my 30th year of being a teacher.  I was a 6th grade Math Teacher at Alamo Middle School for 15 years.  I was also a football, boys and girls soccer and track coach at AMS for 15 years and an Alamo Wolverines Boys Varsity soccer coach for 4 years.  I graduated from the University of Texas Pan American and a high school graduate of PSJA High School.
I have been married for 26 years to my  wife Martha.  I have 2 great kids:Matthew, 23years old and Lauren 19 years old.  My daughter Lauren is a Freshman at the University of Texas in Austin.  She is studying to be an Architect and a Plan II Honor Student. She was part of the Longhorn band and she plays the piccolo. My son Matthew was a student at SMU University in Dallas and is now a transfer student to UTRGV in Edinburg where he is a Senior, he will be doing a double major of accounting and financing. Matthew works at a Mcallen Restaurant.
I also can't forget my Labrador Kate, she was named after Princess Kate. Kate is 6 yrs old and she loves fetching her ball and taking walks just to explore.  She is a wonderful dog. We are also lucky enough to have Kai, my daughter's dachshund living with us.  She is a small dog with a big attitude, but we are very lucky to have her.

Please feel free to come and talk to me whenever you have a concern about your son or daughter in my class. There are 2 things that I work on, Trust and Respect.  I feel that with these 2 things many good things will happen and everything else will fall into place.  Thank you for allowing me to teach your kids and I really feel this will be a great and tremendous year.   Go Diamondbacks!!!!!!.

My main objective is to make every student feel comfortable and confident in their abilities as a student. My main job is to prepare them for the Jr. High experience and 7th grade. Thank you for all your support and please feel free to call me during my conference or send me an e-mail. I feel that if we work together, our year will be smooth and very rewarding.
